Week 5- Digital design ideas

After my tutorial this week I received good feedback from the initial print ideas I had created and from the colour scheme that I have developed. I decided to just carry on playing around with my digital drawings to create more refined and developed print designs. I felt that I needed some more texture in my work so I created some more hand drawn work trying to stick as closely to my colour scheme as possible. I then scanned in these drawings so I had a digital copy of them that I could use to add to the body of work I had to create more interesting digital prints. I also had some of my prints digitally printed on to Habotai silk this week so I could see how they looked on fabric. I was very please with the outcome of these and I am keen to develop some more prints using the new backgrounds that I have created so I can also print these onto fabric. Here are some examples of the backgrounds I have created.

Here are some examples of my developed print ideas.

Week 4- Development

This week I felt like I was getting back on track with my work after not producing my best work last week. I started to select the best of my developed drawings and scanned them into the computer so I had a digital copy of them. After this I started to edit them on Photoshop to try and create some initial design ideas. Here is one of my initial print ideas.

After playing around with them and creating some patterns I found that it was an important time to develop my own colour scheme. I created this colour board to easily show my colour scheme.

Week 3- PDP tutorial

Today I had my one on one PDP tutorial with my tutor Rianna. Unfortunately I had not been very well last week so I was nervous to go to my tutorial as I felt like I had not produced a high enough standard of work. Although I was unwell and disappointed I still took my work in to show her anyway and I'm really glad that I did. Rianna told me clearly what my strengths and weaknesses within my drawings were and gave me ideas of where to take my work next. After being able to see that my drawing strengths were in using ink with found objects I am going to create more drawings in this style. We also discussed looking at contextualizing my work and decided that I wanted to take my designs down a fashion route. Also in my tutorial Rianna told me to think about putting some boards together to clearly show my concept to others. Here is the concept board that I have created.

I felt like after this tutorial I had a clear direction of where I wanted to take my own work and develop it, I also felt like I had the freedom to work in my own way. I carried on developing my drawings using inks and printing with my own found objects and creating patterns. Below are some examples of my developed drawings.
